In association with Omanexpo, “Diam” organizes a press conference to present Oman Energy & Water Exhibition & Conference 2018

Under the theme “Intelligent Management of Energy and Water Systems”
The Public Authority for Electricity and Water (Diam) in association with Omanexpo organized on Sunday a press conference at the Crowne Plaza Muscat Hotel to talk about the 2018 edition of Oman Energy & Water and Exhibition Conference themed “Intelligent Management of Energy and Water Systems.” The conference will reflect the ambitious vision set by Diam, which is providing high-quality drinking water and energy services to all residents in Oman.
Dr. Ali Hamad Al Ghafri, Chairman’s Assistant for International Relations and Conferences, said that this press conference aims at highlighting the details of the 2018 Oman Energy and Water Exhibition and it will focus on “Intelligent Management of Energy and Water Systems,” which will be held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center from 30 April to 2 May 2018. He also stressed that the conference and exhibition in this year's edition, which will be inaugurated at 9:00 am, Monday, April 30 by His Highness Sayyid Taymor bin Asaad bin Tareq Al Said, Assistant Secretary General for Communications of the Scientific Research Council.
Dr. Ali Al Ghafri also pointed out that this year, the conference will highlight the most important investment opportunity for government and private establishments working in the field of electricity and water sectors in Oman. It will cover several topics such as energy and water strategies; addressing the programs and plans for strengthening the infrastructure of the electricity, water and sewage sectors in Oma;, the future of energy in Oman and the strategies of production efficiency, uses and investment opportunities available, especially renewable energy; sustainable water management in Oman, policies, and decisions related thereto, and programs of production efficiency, planning, operation and maintenance in the fields of electricity and water through the showcasing of strategic projects in the field of water transport; presenting the latest systems in the areas of efficiency of operation and intelligent management ; and highlighting the latest developments in policies and strategies in the energy and water sectors; Oman’s plans to take advantage of renewable energy sources and offer opportunities to exploit waste in energy production, water networks and pipelines; ways and means to rationalize energy and water consumption in the Oman, as well as wastewater and treatment methods.
Dr. Ali Al Ghafri emphasized that the conference and its accompanying exhibition is an appropriate opportunity for those interested in these sectors and is an ideal platform for the international exchange of experiences, studies and inventions in the related fields and aims to enhance efforts to consolidate these sectors, highlight the achievements made in each of them, look into their future and investment opportunities available, study their strategies and sustainable management, and ways of raising awareness.
Technical topics will be addressed in the conference this year
Eng. Ahmed Al Subhi, CEO, ACWA Power and chairman of the technical committee said that Diamhas formed a specialized technical committee from all the governmental and private sectors. The authorities include the Public Authority for Electricity and Water “Diam”, Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, Sultan Qaboos University, the Research Council, Oman Water Society. Representing the government companies are Nama Group and Haya Water; while ACWA Power, PDO, Flown Modern Enterprises and Siemens represent the private sector.
More than 50 local and international speakers; academics and experts in the fields of energy, water, and wastewater will be participating, and 400 delegates are expected to attend the conference. Apart from the conference, there will workshops and technical sessions.
Al Subhi added that the conference will focus on renewable energy technologies in Oman and presented a number of successful experiences in benefiting from the new technologies in this field such as the PDO experiment to produce electricity from solar energy, as well as the experience of “Diam” with the Rural Areas Electricity Company to launch the wind energy production project. It is the first project of its kind in Oman and the GCC countries.
Ahmed Sayed, exhibition director, Omanexpo stated that the accompanying exhibition will exhibit the most important technologies and inventions in the field of energy and water More than 150 local and international companies from Oman, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Iran, India, and South Korea will participate in this edition.
